Rosemount Sydney Fashion Festival
By Cynthaz • Jun 30th, 2008 • Category: DesignersThe press release is out, and Rosemount Sydney Fashion Festival is on once again. The great thing about RSFF is that anyone can view the parades, it’s not industry only. So if you want to take a peek at the latest and greatest to hit the catwalk, just buy a ticket and you’re in. Here’s the scoop:

“Australia’s biggest designer names and leading fashion retailers are set
to present a style-packed festival of fashion for the people when the
inaugural Rosemount Sydney Fashion Festival (RSFF) kicks off from 13 – 17
August 2008. This fashion event is not exclusive to the industry and
importantly is open to all to enjoy - and that means you! So tell all of
your friends and family and prepare to be inspired by a range of new
season spring summer collections as they arrive instore. Set in Sydney’s
retail heartland, a specially built tent will host 5 days of fashion
events. Tickets for all events on the official schedule will be available
to purchase from Monday 14 July.
THE TENT IN MARTIN PLACE
Rosemount Sydney Fashion Festival will see a specially created
tent structure erected in Martin Place, right in the heart of Sydney’s
CBD. This purpose built showroom will boast state-of-the-art lighting,
sound and staging configurations with the same production teams
responsible for producing Australia’s long-standing international fashion
event, Rosemount Australian Fashion Week. The event will profile Sydney’s
innovative and eclectic fashion offering from major department stores to
independent retail outlets and will herald a multi-day schedule of
lunchtime and evening runway collection shows, in-store promotions,
celebrity events, exhibitions, launches and after parties in and around
Sydney. The festival promises to attract Australia’s biggest names in
fashion, alongside a host of celebrities and international models.
A FASHIONABLE PARTY
Festival nightlife will certainly be a highlight as
the city transforms into a true celebration of all things fashion. The
official Rosemount Sydney Fashion Festival bar will be open to the public
and located adjacent to the tent on Martin Place, creating a true
destination to experience all the buzz of fabulous, fashion fun. Several
other bars and clubs around the city and beyond will also join forces with
Rosemount to present a fringe schedule of events catering for every
fashionista’s need. Some of the participating venues confirmed to date
include Bungalow 8, Crystal Bar, The Establishment, The Gazebo, The Loft,
Trademark and Verandah Bar. Note to self - plan those party outfits now!
JUST THE TICKET
With big names like Alex Perry, Anna Thomas,
Charlie Brown, David Lawrence, Kirrily Johnston, Lisa Ho, Nicola Finetti
and more already confirmed to show at RSFF, be quick to snap up the
limited tickets when they go on sale via www.ticketek.com.au from Monday
14 July. The festival will showcase spring summer collections -
everything from high fashion, to swimwear, lingerie, menswear, streetwear
and kidswear - just as they hit the shops, giving you the opportunity to
go straight out a pick up the latest runways trends. Tickets to several
other events including charity galas, exhibitions, styling workshops,
designer high teas, fashion movies, and much, much more will also be
available. Check the festival website regularly for updates and ticket

THE AUSTRALIAN FASHION LAUREATE
The countdown is on to announce the winner of this year’s
Australian Fashion Laureate with a gala presentation to take place at The
Westin Sydney in the lead up to the festival. Much like the AFI Awards is
to the film industry, or the ARIA’s is to the music industry, the
Australian Fashion Laureate has been established to recognise outstanding
achievement in Australian fashion and is the penultimate honour for
members of the industry. The award is open to all sectors of the fashion
industry - from design through to manufacturing, publishing through to
retail, photography through to event production, and modelling through to
management - as voted by a panel of key industry leaders.”
